Community Chest holds first flag day in 20 years

Singapore’s Community Chest held its first flag day in 20 years on Saturday.

It sent its volunteers to six locations island-wide to raise funds for over 300,000 beneficiaries.

The event also includes other fund-raising activities, such as painting a grid on the Charity Mosaic canvas wall, and impromptu performances.

Coinciding with the flag day, FairPrice Foundation has set up a new FairPrice Foundation-ComChest Enriching Lives Fund.

Under the new fund, FairPrice Foundation will donate S$2.4 million to Community Chest over three years.

This year, S$800,000 from the fund will go towards supporting six family service centres and the National Council of Social Service Special Assistance Fund to help more than 12,000 beneficiaries.
