Programme launched to empower youths to contribute back to society

Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) has launched a new programme called Imagine! Community Action Network.

It seeks to empower youths to contribute back to society through meaningful ground-up initiatives.

$500,000 will be set aside each year to fund these community initiatives.

Mr Sam Tan, Mayor of Central Singapore District, said: “The youths of today are leaders of tomorrow. In the coming years, the CDC hopes to encourage more of them to play a greater role in our community, especially through projects that help the more vulnerable.

“With the launch of the Imagine!, I hope more young people will feel empowered to make a difference in society.”

Under Imagine!, a two-tier funding model will be available to cater to the different needs of the youths.

Those who are less familiar with community issues will receive funding of up to $2,000 per project.

Those who are experienced in community work and wish to embark on larger-scale initiatives may receive up to $10,000 per project.
