Boys’ Brigade Christmas project aims to fulfil 40,000 wishes of needy

The Boys’ Brigade’s long-running annual Share-a-Gift Christmas initiative is entering its 26th edition this year.

And it aims to spread more cheer by fulfilling over 40,000 wishes of the needy this festive season.

The Boys’ Brigade has called on the public to donate items such as non-perishable food and household essentials.

This will be used to assist the needy with their daily living costs.

Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo was at the project’s launch on Wednesday.

She said such initiatives complement the government’s approach to helping the needy.

Ms Teo said: “The Share-a-Gift (programme) is a community initiative that is a vital complement to the multiple lines of assistance that the government offers.

“Through Share-a-Gift, people give because they want to, not because they have to. And I think when a society has got this spirit of giving, when people choose to make their contribution, the tone and the texture is completely different.”
