Folding origami for charity

Some 40,000 volunteers helped raise money for needy elderly residents by folding a million origami stars.

Through the effort, they raised S$100,000 which will be used to provide 200 needy residents with essential household items.

The funds were donated by NTUC Fairprice Foundation, with a dollar-for-dollar matching by Northeast CDC.

The stars aren’t going to waste. They will be used to make art pieces and sculptures, some of which will be sold for charity.

More than 1,000 residents in Pasir Ris West also had an early Christmas celebration at the Pasir Ris Elias Community Club.
