Spreading Christmas cheer for children with life-threatening illnesses

Children suffering from life-threatening illnesses were in for a treat when a fleet of Santas helped deliver donated Christmas presents to them in a Toy Run on Saturday morning.

The Santas, on their Chrysler jeeps and Harley-Davison motorbikes, delivered over 400 presents to various children’s aid societies, including Children’s Cancer Foundation and Club Rainbow.

The run is part of “Stars of Christmas” – an annual community project by OUE Limited and Meritus Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with aid societies, Club Rainbow, Children’s Cancer Foundation, and the VIVA Foundation.

The public took part by picking a star – which contained the name, age, and gender of a child – from a Christmas tree in the main lobby of the Mandarin Orchard Hotel. They then bought a present for the children they chose and the gift was later placed under the tree.

This year, additional stars were hung on the tree for the children in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan so that the public could spread some Christmas cheer to children in these devastated communities.
