About 80 elderly residents from the Henderson Aged Reach-out Programme got their individual portraits taken at places of interests on Saturday.
Student volunteers from the Institute of Technical Education gave the seniors a makeover. After which they were taken to Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, Clarke Quay and One Fullerton to have their pictures taken.
“My Neighbourhood Gems Corporate Care” programme is a joint community service effort between the People’s Association-PMET division, HSBC bank, as well as Tanglin-Cairnhill Citizens’ Consultative Committee.
The aim of the programme is to encourage companies to give back to the community through the use of photography.
The elderly were also hosted to lunch at Henderson Community Club, as part of the upcoming Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law & Education and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, said: “One of the things which I asked our PA staff to do is to curate the photos and at the end of it, send some of the nicer ones to the Singapore Memory Project.
“Many of these elderly here are part of Singapore’s pioneer generation, and we want to make sure that there’re memories of them in the years to come.”
