Yellow Ribbon Fund raises over $470,000 to rehabilitate ex-offenders

More ex-offenders and their families are expected to benefit from $470,000 raised at the Yellow Ribbon Fund Charity Golf and Dinner held at the Singapore Island Country Club on Friday, the Yellow Ribbon Fund said in a statement.

The event, organised by the Yellow Ribbon Fund, garnered support from about 220 donors from the private and public sectors, including Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Mayor, North East District Teo Ser Luck, who was present as guest-of-honour to pledge his support.

The Yellow Ribbon Fund extends its aftercare support to ex-offenders as well as their family members directly by providing financial assistance, and indirectly by funding targeted rehabilitation and reintegration programmes. This includes family support programmes that aim to strengthen ties between ex-offenders and their families

Mr Jimmy Koh, Co-Chairman of the Yellow Ribbon Fund Charity Golf and Dinner 2014, said: “We are humbled by the generosity of our donors and community partners. It is evident that they believe that ex-offenders can take responsibility for their new lease of life and contribute to society.

“In the past two years, the Yellow Ribbon Fund has provided practical assistance to more than 3,600 inmates, ex-offenders and especially their families. We continue to encourage active donations and contributions in kind as ex-offenders gradually rebuild their lives and become financially independent.”
