The North West Community Development Council hopes to double its volunteer network to 8,000 people in its new term over the next three years.
It also hopes to grow its pool of corporate donors.
In June, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had called on CDCs to help marshal resources from the wider community to serve Singaporeans.
Dr Teo Ho Pin, mayor of the North West district and chairman of the mayors’ committee, said: “We would like to encourage more corporate ownership where more companies come forward, provide their expertise, their manpower, and their resources to help the community.”
Dr Teo was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the North West CDC appointment ceremony and appreciation dinner on Thursday evening.
He said some 30,000 people have benefited from the CDC’s various assistance programmes in its last term. One term lasts for three years.
