SIA organises charity run as part of SG50 celebrations

The Singapore Airlines (SIA) will organise a charity run this November to raise funds for the Community Chest and is one of the events leading up to the country’s 50th birthday in 2015.

According to its statement released on Friday (July 11), the Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014 will be held on Nov 2 at the F1 Pit Building, and will feature various categories for the public to sign up for – 10 kilometres (km), 5km, 300-metre Kids Dash and a Corporate Challenge with a team of runners completing 10km each.

Air tickets will be up for grabs for the runners, while air tickets and KrisFlyer miles will be put up as lucky draw prizes, it added.

“The Singapore Airlines Group is pleased to be doing our part to give back to the community in the lead-up to the nation’s 50th birthday celebrations,” said Mr Foo Kean Shuh, Chairman of the Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014 Committee.

Registration started on Friday via its website, and those signing up have the option of making additional donations to the Community Chest, the statement said.
The Charity Run is organised in tandem with the Care & Share Movement, under which net proceeds will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government. It is also part of the SG50 calendar of events leading up to Singapore’s 50th birthday, said SIA.
