NTUC FairPrice volunteers clocked 2,300 hours for community work in 2013

NTUC FairPrice’s volunteer programme clocked about 2,300 hours of community work, which is the equivalent of 287 work days in 2013.

Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO, NTUC FairPrice, revealed these figures at a charity car wash event at an Esso service station along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 yesterday.

He was volunteering at the event with members of the senior management team from FairPrice and Cheers and volunteers from Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore). Drivers were invited to donate $10 or more with all donations collected onsite going to CARE Singapore.

Mr Seah Kian Peng, CEO, NTUC FairPrice said, “In the Prime Minister’s recent National Day message, he encouraged the community to strengthen our bonds with one another with the spirit of mutual support.

“We are privileged that today’s event serves as another platform for FairPrice to play a role in fostering community spirit,” Mr Seah said.

Earlier this month, FairPrice volunteers also accompanied beneficiaries on a shopping trip and shared tips on stretching their dollar.
