Young artists with a cause

A series of animal portraits by eight-year-old Tyler Tan takes pride of place at an exhibition called “Finding Home”, alongside works by 15-year-old Dylan Alexander.

The show is organised by the OCBC-TODAY Children’s Fund and the paintings will be auctioned off for charity, with all proceeds going to the Singapore Children’s Society, to help disadvantaged children.

Tyler said his pieces are inspired by his love for animals and a longing for a dog. “I like art and I want to help the children,” he added.

Dylan, who tries to capture the essence of nature in his work, used coffee to create one of his paintings.

“As I understand, there are quite a number of children who either come from disadvantaged families or whose parents are separated. And I guess that all of these is very much for them and supporting them and guiding them,” Dylan said.

The exhibition runs from now till Nov 14 at OCBC Centre Branch at Chulia Street. The OCBC-TODAY Children’s Fund aims to raise S$1.5 million annually and the bank has pledged to contribute S$1 for every S$2 donated by members of the public.
