Over 20 volunteers honoured by Law Ministry

Over 20 volunteers were honoured by Singapore’s Law Ministry on Thursday for pro bono contributions.

They helped out as Community Mediators and volunteer lawyers, and provided legal expertise on various matters.

At an appreciation dinner, Law Minister K Shanmugam gave out awards to those who offered their services.

Volunteers had contributed to Community Mediation Centres, the Legal Aid Bureau and the Insolvency and Public Trustee’s Office.

Their aid ranged from helping parties resolve community and social disputes, to providing the needy with access to justice.

The Law Ministry’s new awards framework introduced last year saw the scope of recognition given to volunteers expanded from two to seven categories.
