The Singapore Committee for UN Women (UN Women Singapore) and MasterCard once again join hands for Buy-to-Save 2012, a charity fashion sale of high quality, pre-owned designer handbags, apparel and accessories. Proceeds from the sale will go towards programmes that help women and young girls in Singapore who are at-risk from violence, abuse and exploitation. Many of the items are donated by customers of Club 21 and by the fashion boutique, Inhabit.
Since 2006, UN Women Singapore has raised over $200,000 for causes that give local women and young girls the chance to learn a skill, to further their education and to acquire financial literacy knowledge, among others. Funds raised at Buy-To-Save 2012 will benefit Beautiful People’s “My Beautiful Life” programme, an intensive mentoring and career guidance programme that aims to equip participants with the tools, skills and relationships to help her map a career direction and get a headstart on a fulfilling career. Proceeds will also go towards helping residents of SCWO’s Star Shelter, a crisis centre for women and their children who are victims of family violence.
