Charity movie screening – in support of Project Battambang (by NUS medical students) (www.projectbattambang.com).
For the past two years, the team comprising medical students and doctors has been going to the Thai-Cambodian bordering district of Poipet in the Battambang province of Cambodia with the main focus of supplementing local primary healthcare services, and developing effective and sustainable rural healthcare programmes for the community in the long run.
Aside from community health screening, the team also conducts household surveys shedding light on the needs of the community, and tailored health education programmes seeking to improve the health situation of under privileged Cambodians. The team also supports the development of village schools and education of needy students in the area. To ensure long-term sustainability, the team works alongside several local contacts including the Missionary Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSSHJ), and villages and schools in the region.
The movie screening held by the Financial Women’s Association of Singapore is on November 17 from 3pm to 6pm (including cocktails, exhibition and panel discussion) at the Golden Village, Great World City. The short film being screened is “Miss Representation” (an award-winning documentary about women and media), and tickets are priced at S$50 each. They can be purchased at http://www.fwasg.org/?p=event_reg&sctask=directrsvp&Event_id=178.
