Ministry of Transport raises over S$700,000 for charity

The Community Chest has received more than S$700,000 from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and its statutory boards through its Family Charity Outreach programme.

The statutory boards are Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Land Transport Authority, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Public Transport Council.

Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew presented the donation to the vice-chair of the Community Chest Committee, Hwang Peng Yuan, at a charity movie event on Friday evening.

Mr Lui said: “The MOT family is committed to helping those less fortunate in society. I am happy that through the MOT Family Charity Outreach, we have raised more than $700,000 for the beneficiaries of Community Chest.”

MOT’s agencies contribute individually to charitable causes.

CAAS has a HOPE Fund which helps children with multiple disabilities in Rainbow Centre – Margaret Drive School, while LTA has a Cares Fund which supports the transport needs of the physically and financially disadvantaged.

MPA has a CARE team that organises a series of fund-raising activities throughout the year for a variety of charitable organisations. The beneficiaries supported by MOT’s agencies are under the scope of Community Chest.
