Singaporean to compete in Brazil Ultramarathon to raise funds for charity

Singaporean runner Lim Nghee Huat will be competing in the 217-kilometre Brazil Ultramarathon on January 18-20.

And it will be for a good cause!

Funds collected to support the 59-year-old’s effort will go towards a new rehabilitation centre for senior citizens at St. Hilda’s Community Services Centre in Mountbatten.

Mr Lim, who is an editor with MediaCorp and a grassroots leader at Mountbatten, is one of 90 runners worldwide – including only four Asians – invited to the annual event.

He ran the race in about 45 hours last year and thinks he can beat that time this year.

Lending his support is Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong who has pledged S$5,000 to the cause.

Those who wish to support Mr Lim can contact St Hilda’s Community Services Centre at Block 10, Jalan Batu, Tanjong Rhu.
