Youths break cupcake record in fundraising effort

Youths from Ayer Rajah Constituency tasted sweet victory on Sunday when they set a new Guinness World Record involving cupcakes.

To celebrate national Day, some 20,000 of the sweet treats were used to create a mosaic featuring the Singapore’s national flag.

This beats the previous record set in the United States, which used 5,900 cupcakes.

Over 1,000 youths and residents were involved in the fundraising effort where they came together to bake and share their labour of love.

The event raised some S$100,000 in donations for less privileged youths and low-income families.

The cupcakes were delivered to welfare homes for children, disabled and the elderly across 62 locations in Singapore, so that they too can share in the spirit of National Day.
