The Run For Life charity race is back for a second year, targeting more participants and raising more money for beneficiaries.
Some 5,000 runners are expected to raise S$630,000.
Last year saw 2,700 runners raking in S$450,000 for disadvantaged children and youths, said the Life Community Services Society.
A group of young beneficiaries could not contain their enthusiasm in a training session at the East Coast Park for the run on July 19.
Aged between seven and 12, they will take part in the run for kids covering 500 metres.
There will also be a 2.4-kilometre family run as well as a 10-kilometre category for competitive runners.
And 54-year-old Jenap Said, popularly known as “Catwoman” for the suits she wears in marathons, will be going the extra mile in raising funds.
The veteran of 47 marathons and seven ultra-marathons raised S$120,000 last year after doing a 12-hour run.
This year, the mother of two has pledged to run for 24-hours straight.
Madam Jenap said: “I just take it easy because I don’t think so much… because the more I think, the more it makes (me) excited, nervous, you know, (and I) can’t do well, you see. I take it easy, just to enjoy, and hopefully I can bring in more money for the Life Community.”
