Singapore Paralympic swimmer Theresa Goh on Monday received a token of appreciation from Maybank Group President and CEO Abdul Wahid Omar for her efforts to raise funds for charity.
Goh helped to raise in over S$100 in a friendly arm wrestling competition as part of Maybank Group’s Global Corporate Responsibility Day which raised S$120,000 on September 22.
Team Singapore athletes Lim Heem Wei, Geraldine Lee, Gary Yeo and Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha were also present at the carnival at ITE College Central Bishan to help garner donations for Special Olympics Singapore, a non-profit organisation which aims to provide sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities.
Through SportCares, an initiative under Vision 2030 which aims to use sport for social good, the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) had committed themselves to match the S$120,000 raised dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total sum to S$240,000.
