More than 1,300 participants, including National University of Singapore (NUS) staff, students, alumni and members of the public, took part in the fifth NUS Bizad Charity Run on Saturday (Jan 10), raising over S$140,000 to help underprivileged youths in Singapore.
Some notable participants included Ms Lim Heem Wei, the first Singaporean gymnast to compete in the Olympics as well as Mr Chan Meng Hui aka “uncle Chan”, the event’s oldest participant.
The event also marked the NUS Business School’s 50th anniversary. This year’s run featured a challenging hilly route through the school’s Kent Ridge campus.
Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport Josephine Teo, a former student, graced the event. She commended the university’s effort to cultivate a strong sense of community.
All proceeds will go to the students of Assumption Pathway School, as well as financially needy undergraduates.
