Family Life First (FLF) is a registered non-profit Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) which has been serving the community since 1996. Its core mission is to provide welfare support and assistance to the distressed and under-privileged family units with specific social needs.
Currently, FLF is serving the needy community in Toa Payoh. Amongst these underprivileged group, the organisation has a number of families with school-going children who are facing declining academic performance. However, due to the families’ financial status, tuition becomes a privilege which is beyond their means. FLF has received a generous sponsorship of assessment books for the children, but the problem remains that they require guidance.
FLF started its Book Treat Tuition programme in year 2014 and with the help of the programme, all the students passed their examinations and 7 of them received bursary awards this year. It also gave out awards to those who did well in the programme earlier this year.
FLF have expanded to more than 30 students with 2 tuition centres provided by Toa Payoh Resident’s Committee Zone 1 at the start of 2016.
It is looking for more volunteer-tutors for the period of July 2016 – November 2016. The sessions will be held every Tuesday from 7.00pm-9.00pm at Blk 58 & 63 Lorong 5 RC Centre Singapore 310063.
