Four social enterprises have been selected from 37 applications as winners of the President’s Challenge Award.
There were two winners for the Social Enterprise of the Year – A-changin Pte Ltd and Eighteen Chefs Pte Ltd.
A-changin provides training and employment opportunities to single mothers and former out-of-work women, while Eighteen Chefs engages youths-at-risk and ex-offenders through its F&B business.
The Youth Social Enterprise of the Year went to Adrenalin Events and Education Pte Ltd, which specialises in events management and New Soon Huat Pte Ltd was named Social Enterprise Start-up of the Year.
Three special mention awards were also given to honour applicants noted for their contributions to the disadvantaged.
The award was launched earlier this year by President Tony Tan Keng Yam and aims to recognise successful and sustainable social enterprises.
It also hopes to inspire social entrepreneurs and youths to develop such enterprises.
