This is a Joint Flag Day between MCYC Community Services Society and Yong-en Care Centre. Volunteers are needed to help collect donations from the general public on that day. Student volunteers will be rewarded with CIP hours for their involvement in the Joint Flag Day.
The event will be held on Saturday, 22nd June 2013, from 9.00am – 7.00pm, but volunteers are required to commit a minimum 4-hour time slot on that day. Bonus CIP hours (1.5 times) will be given to those who sign up for 2 shifts and also for Shifts 3 or 4. The time slots are as follows:
Shift 1: 9am – 1pm
Shift 2: 11am – 3pm
Shift 3: 1pm – 5pm
Shift 4: 3pm – 7pm
In addition, MCYC hopes to further spread the spirit of youth volunteerism by empowering youths with leadership spirit to take up causes that will make a difference to their community. If students are interested, they can sign up as a Youth Leader to help with the recruitment of volunteers to collect donations from the general public on 22 June 2013, Saturday.
Extra 5 hours of CIP will be awarded to the youth leaders who manage to recruit 10 volunteers or more. Through the leadership role, the youth leaders will learn about developing strategies to encourage greater youth volunteerism in the community. Through this event, MCYC also provides youths with the opportunity to translate their passion for serving the community into action by allowing them to inspire other youths to serve the community.
