Assisi Hospice aims to raise S$900,000 through fundraiser

This year’s Assisi Hospice Charity Fun Day has set a target to raise S$900,000 through fun and games.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck and CEO of Temasek Holdings Ho Ching joined the celebrations at SJI International School on Sunday.

Assisi Hospice cares for people whose lives have been affected by life-limiting illnesses.

The organisers feel more education and public awareness are needed for people to understand hospice care is not the same as hospital or nursing home care.

Hospice care is about providing the best care available and giving support, so that patients may be able to live life to the fullest, right up to the end.

A highlight of this year’s event is the cycling fundraiser by Mr Lim Wee Yin.

Starting on 28 April in southwest China, he cycled 5,000 kilometres to arrive at the Charity Fun Day.

Just before arriving, he was joined in Malacca by a team of 13 cyclists, comprising friends and nine staff from Sembcorp, who cycled 270 kilometres to Singapore.
